Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. In order to create a batik fabric, recycled wax is melted and applied to the fabric using a stamped pattern. Edwina carves each stamped design herself in foam, which is easier to repurpose and work with than wood. Together with several women in Accra, Ghana, Edwina and her team always create designs that play on both pattern and layered color in a truly original way. Since we began working together in 2018, we've produced over 40 unique textiles together, keeping them in continuous production since we started. We're so honored to share this collaboration with Edwina and her team!

Initially I thought KINETIC might be too close to SHADOW DANCING as a batik shirt, but I sprang for it and am very glad I did. My shirt is darker and moodier than what the models show, it feels very organic, and it pulls a different kind of complement. This can go from casual to very dressy depending on what you put with it. Someone said. “That looks like a batik” —and of course I confirmed. It feels classic versus artsy, yet is artsy…. I am fond if it! Also goes well w silver hair:0). Enjoy!

Kinetic goes with everything. Even though it is full of movement, it’s also somehow a calming batik. Zuri was all out of my usual size in shirts, XL, so I purchased an L, and it fits just fine, maybe a tad shorter in the length and arms.

I love the randomness of the print, the various shades of black, grey, and white. It's comfortable, easy to style, and can be seasonally adjusted. And, I just love Zuri as a company, a business, clothing.

The fabric is so soft, and the batik is exquisite. My first shirt will certainly not be my last, as the unique cut and style of the Zuri dress is reflected beautifully in this style, too. I look a little overwhelmed in this picture as I loved it so much I didn't really know what to do with my face! This is a wonderful shirt!!!
