We're really proud to be working with Sasha, India's oldest fair trade cooperative to source ethically grown linen and cotton and to work with their experienced weavers in West Bengal to make these textiles. Learn more about these fabrics here!
Woven by India's oldest certified fair-trade artisanal weaving cooperative in West Bengal, these textiles are a dream! Each fabric is a hand-loomed blend of cotton and linen. We chose this blend for two reasons: 1) to create subtle texture and movement within the weave; and (more practically) 2) so that your shirts and dresses will be super easy to wash and wear, as they'll be more wrinkle resistant, more durable, and drape a bit heavier when worn. (While the fabric was produced in India, the dresses were all proudly stitched in Kenya by our team.)

The color is a darker, more grey color than shown. At least mine is after 2 washings in cold. The color is pretty accurate in the 3rd photo, the close-up of the collar.
The card that came with it said that the color would not run. It does. My first washing (cold, line dry) ruined the other Zuri dress I washed it with. That dress, one of my favorites, was mainly black with white and pink leaves. The white now looks a dull blueish grey.
I washed the second time, again in cold, with a Shout Color Catcher sheet. The sheet is now the same color as the dress, so it picked up a lot of dye.
It is thin, which is great in the heat, but it also means it is sheer enough that people can see my legs through it when I am walking down the street. Or meeting with clients.
This is the first of my many Zuri dresses that I haven't rated 5 stars. I sure wish I hadn't washed it with my black/white/pink one.
