Designed by textile artist Tammi Williams, she shared with us that this design is "100% inspired by the humble and ubiquitous trees around New York City. They're not exotic trees but they add much needed shade, green space, and beauty to the city and so I decided to show them some respect in my design."

Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. In addition to paying above living wages, SOKO provides employees with paid leave and stipends for family emergencies, free pre-primary childcare for all employees with children from ages 2-4, daily mid-morning tea and midday lunch, and clear, outlined processes for job advancement. When we say 100% Made in Kenya, we really mean it! Made from cotton grown in western Kenya and designed, printed and stitched outside of Nairobi, it doesn't get more local than this! The ecosystem for rotary printed fabrics is complex and truly global. While it's rare to see a rotary printed textile produced in a closed-circuit, farm-to-shop supply chain, the fabrics we're producing are verifiably 100% made in Kenya. Not just traceable, but local. Not just identifiable, but ethical and accountable.
Our production impacts hundreds of smallholder farmers and their families each year. It impacts young Kenyan artists whose voices and work may now have a slightly bigger audience (and fan club:) ). It impacts the Kenyan textile manufacturing industry, which for years has been out-competed in the local market by imported fabrics. Finally, it impacts you, because you can know that your dress was made ethically, honestly, and with pride.

I received this just in time to go to Aniwa, a gathering with 50 indigenous elders from all over the world.
It was in the Big Bear area and it was very hot.🥵 at the camp. This is the lighter weight fabric and as I was already slightly red from the sun I was so glad that I had it to protect myself from the heat and strong sunlight. It was so perfect because I was completely covered but the dress is so light and loose it felt cool to ware. Everyone loved it and of course I said this was my dress from Kenya Africa. Lots of people loved it and wanted to know where I got it. I said Zuri, and I’ve bought lots of wonderful stuff from them and you should check them out. I actually took all the bags my dresses came in and gave one away to a new friend. A sweet
I indigenous girl helped me and said she wished she could afford something like this dress I am waring. After thinking about it next time I saw her I gave her my pods dress. Boy was that fun 🤩 I felt rich 🤑 . Giving things away always make me feel rich. I got this one because I loved the color and design and that it is lighter weight. I got the long and so glad I did because it was very handy for sun coverage.

I love the colors, the print… everything about this dress! The fabric feels a bit lighter than other Zuris I own, which will make it great for the summer!
