The red in Gumball's print reminds me of a red that was widely used in linens in the Thirties and Forties. As a child I would spend summers with my grandmother and I would admire her ruffly aprons, many of them with this red in their patterns. She kept pennies in her apron pocket so she could reward me with one after I had "helped" her with a task. I'd run the two blocks down to the little store with the penny gumball machine outside and get myself a nice juicy gumball. Wearing Gumball makes me smile, as it reminds me of Grandma's pennies.

Gumball is such a pretty dress, the red is soft, the fabric is light without being too sheer and the pattern is fun. Pair it with sandals or ballet flats for summer or just slip into your favourite thongs. It will be perfect for Melbourne’s summer and I’m counting down the days!
