Frequently Asked Questions
For all US orders, you can get your return or exchange started here, where you’ll be able to print a pre-paid shipping label for shipping from any US address! Online order returns within 30 days of any unworn and undamaged merchandise can also be returned in person at our shops!
Our sizing guide can be found here and is based on the size of the garment, not the wearer. Please note, due to the handmade nature of our items, +/- ½ inch of variance can be expected.
If you're in between sizes, we recommend taking the smaller of the two! If you're looking for an easy rule of thumb, go for the size you'd normally wear at a store like the Gap!
Most of our prints are limited-edition runs, and once they’re gone, they’re gone! That being said, we do occasionally get prints back in, so if we’re out of stock in your size, please sign up to receive a back-in-stock notification on the product page, and you'll get an email notification if the size you selected becomes available!
You can use this nifty duty calculator! (Our dress HS code is 620442, and our shirt HS code is 620630.)
Generally speaking, yes. Pretty much everything that is available online should also be available to shop in person, and if we happen to be out of stock of a particular item in-store, we can always order it for you! And, the same goes for the site--there's nothing hiding away in our stores that is not also online!
Not to worry! No special notice is needed--(we don't include any paperwork with pricing information)--but if you’d like a note added with your gift, please feel free to leave a message in the ‘Leave us a Note’ section of your Shopping Cart.
We usually release 2-3 new prints every week, so check back for new drops! (We announce all the new releases in our weekly newsletter. To stay up to date, feel free to sign up here!)
In the US, we ship with USPS and UPS. We ship with USPS to Canada, UPS to the UK, Asia, and Africa (except Kenya), DHL to Australia and New Zealand, and DPD in the EU. If you have a preferred carrier, please let us know in the order notes section when you place your order!
Depending on where you’re located, delivery times may vary. We do our best to ship orders out 1-3 days after being placed and they take 3-5 days to be delivered (US domestic), and 5-10 days for international shipments. For more information, please visit our shipping and returns page here!
If you need your order delivered by a specific date, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or note your requested delivery date in the ‘Order Notes’ section at checkout, and we’ll do our best to get it to you on time! For overnight orders, please send us an email!
Generally, a couple of months. They’re limited runs so we suggest that if you like one, go for it!
In the washing machine! Wash on the regular cycle with cold water, and just hang to dry. (You can also dry-clean your dresses if you’d prefer; it won't damage them.) As for ironing, it's a matter of personal preference--definitely not necessary, but it will add a crispness to the look. When it comes to shrinkage, your dress will not shrink if washed on a cool cycle and hung to dry. Our garments are pre-washed so they should not run, BUT the first time you launder your dress at home, we recommend washing it in the machine on its own or with similar colors and hanging it to dry. Depending on the print/textile, color runs in the first wash can occur, though this is much more common if the garments are allowed to sit wet for an extended period of time. Find more info on our care page, here!
Yes! Many of our dresses are made from African wax print fabric, which often has a waxy outer coating that makes the fabric feel stiff at first. Our dresses are all pre-washed, but after a few more wears and washes at home, your dress will feel much softer and hang more naturally.
With the exception of our linen-cotton blend dresses from India, all of our dresses are 100% cotton! We select our fabrics based on two equally important criteria: 1) quality of the fabric; and 2) how much we love the print. Because we’re always looking for interesting prints on long-lasting fabrics, we don't limit ourselves in terms of any one geographical origin or manufacturing tradition. The common “thread” in all of our fabrics is that each selection is high-quality cotton, with dyes that will not bleed, and prints that are both interesting and beautiful. Try a few; we think you’ll love them all!
