These textiles are a part of our 100% Made in Kenya collection and were printed in Kenya on Kenyan grown cotton. The print was designed by Shadé Akanbi, who is based in Brooklyn, New York. She also designs exclusive products in collaboration with other artisans, locally and internationally, as well as special mementos collected throughout her travels; curated from local markets to international bazaars.

Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. In addition to paying above living wages, SOKO Kenya provides employees with paid leave and stipends for family emergencies, free pre-primary childcare for all employees with children from ages 2-4, daily mid-morning tea and midday lunch, and clear, outlined processes for job advancement. I love this dress. Super easy to dress up or down. Light, airy fabric, not as heavy as some. I nearly returned it at first, but I’m glad I changed my mind. Another Zuri win!

Megabyte is one of those special pieces of clothing that is both spot-on au courant and artfully vintage, an added bonus for anyone who wants a versatile wardrobe item. My Great-Grandparents had decorative canvas pillows on their mohair sofa in the nineteen teens that very much resemble Megabyte, as did my twill dungarees in the 1960s and punk accessories (shoes, handbags, boots) in the eighties. The list could go on. I love having a dress that can be styled in a plethora of various looks from times far past to our current trends.

I had been wanting a black and white dress for a while but have missed them. I snagged megabyte and it did not dissapoint. The white is more of an ivory color. The fabric is lighter so that you can wear it in the spring and fall much easier. Love it!
