Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. In addition to paying above living wages, SOKO provides employees with paid leave and stipends for family emergencies, free pre-primary childcare for all employees with children from ages 2-4, daily mid-morning tea and midday lunch, and clear, outlined processes for job advancement. When we say 100% Made in Kenya, we really mean it! Made from cotton grown in western Kenya and designed, printed and stitched outside of Nairobi, it doesn't get more local than this! The ecosystem for rotary printed fabrics is complex and truly global. While it's rare to see a rotary printed textile produced in a closed-circuit, farm-to-shop supply chain, the fabrics we're producing are verifiably 100% made in Kenya. Not just traceable, but local. Not just identifiable, but ethical and accountable.
Our production impacts hundreds of smallholder farmers and their families each year. It impacts young Kenyan artists whose voices and work may now have a slightly bigger audience (and fan club:) ). It impacts the Kenyan textile manufacturing industry, which for years has been out-competed in the local market by imported fabrics. Finally, it impacts you, because you can know that your dress was made ethically, honestly, and with pride.

I love the ultra vivid combo of bright blue and green which really pop! Fun pattern of snail motifs that also can look like peacock feathers from far away because of the color palette. I love that the background is filled with slightly wavy lines to give the appearance of texture and movement. 🐌💙💚 I opted to purchase this print in the shirt because I get more wear out of the shirts year round compared to the sleeveless dresses but you really can’t go wrong with either. Thank you Zuri for bringing back more “noun” prints!

Every time I open a package from Zuri I think to myself " Oh! This is the most exciting print I've ever purchased!" And then a few months later I open another package and IT is the most exciting print. Recently, I seized the opportunity to purchase two items at once - contrasting prints that I thought would look great together --and with other items in my wardrobe, both plain and printed. I cannot wait to wear the thrilling combination of the Snailed It Shirt with the Night Sky culottes. I've also included a couple photos of other Zuri shirts in my wardrobe that I plan to wear with the Night Sky culottes. As Iris Apfel was fond of saying, "More is more and less is a bore!" Love this shirt. Love the hand loomed cotton shirts even more. My only complaint, and I hear from other women too, is the sleeve length being about an inch too short!

I loved the snail shirt the moment I saw it - I am a fan of bright greens - I appreciate the quirkiness of the design - I thought the price very good value - I liked the web site and philosophy of Zuri - the fit was great - I think of this garment as a work of art! - I have not yet worn the shirt, I am saving it for when it will be most appreciated - thank you 💚
