We're really proud to be working with Sasha, India's oldest fair trade cooperative to source ethically grown linen and cotton and to work with their experienced weavers in West Bengal to make these textiles. Learn more about these fabrics here!
Woven by India's oldest certified fair-trade artisanal weaving cooperative in West Bengal, these textiles are a dream! Each fabric is a hand-loomed blend of cotton and linen. We chose this blend for two reasons: 1) to create subtle texture and movement within the weave; and (more practically) 2) so that your shirts and dresses will be super easy to wash and wear, as they'll be more wrinkle resistant, more durable, and drape a bit heavier when worn. (While the fabric was produced in India, the dresses were all proudly stitched in Kenya by our team.)

The photo color is bluer and lighter than the darker, more green garment I received, which was disappointing. Also, the fabric is heavier and thicker than I was expecting, and it will be a long time before washing softens it enough to make a difference. Plus, the pockets are wonderful, but with this fabric, a lighter-weight option would have been a nicer way to preserve the line of the garment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for Viridian and for the kind words about the pockets! We love a good pocket moment! I am sorry to hear the color and fabric weight were not quite what you were hoping for though. We actually shoot all of our photos outside in natural sunlight, which means the shade can look quite different depending on the time of day and how bright it is. I completely understand how frustrating that can be and I promise it is something we are actively working on to improve. Your feedback really does help with that so thank you for being so detailed!
As for the fabric weight, I totally hear you. It can really affect how a piece sits and drapes and that matters. I have passed all of your feedback along to our team.
