Meet our production partner, SOKO Kenya! Based in Kikambala on the Kenyan coast, they are an ethical manufacturer that truly embraces a fair, kind and transparent work culture. In order to create a batik fabric, recycled wax is melted and applied to the fabric using a stamped pattern. Edwina carves each stamped design herself in foam, which is easier to repurpose and work with than wood. Together with several women in Accra, Ghana, Edwina and her team always create designs that play on both pattern and layered color in a truly original way. Since we began working together in 2018, we've produced over 40 unique textiles together, keeping them in continuous production since we started. We're so honored to share this collaboration with Edwina and her team!

I have no words for how much I love this dress! The purple batik is so rich and vibrant, and the flower print is perfect for spring. I know some people might have an issue with the contrast of the white thread used to sew the dress, but it’s honestly not that noticeable in person. And can we take a moment to appreciate the perfect colour coordination with the Lupine print belt and Kazuri bead earrings and bracelet? A match made in heaven!

Made of the smoothest, most comfortable fabric, the uncomplicated floral design is also fabulous... I love this shade of purple: it is regal and calming without being ostentatious... it is perfect for a casual day out and it can easily become fancy and dressed up with a few accessories... it's one versatile dress.

I was so looking forward to receiving this batik dress the purple is luscious & the flower pattern fun. I was however quite disappointed at the use of white thread as it really stands out on the purple. I have decided to keep the dress but need to dye the thread particularly at the collar area so it is not as obvious. Darker thread would have been a much better choice despite the fact it would have showed on the floral areas.

This purple is life! Pics inside and out included. So vibrant and beautiful! I love the batik flowers against the vivid background. The fabric is breezy and perfect for the warm days ahead without feeling flimsy. My only (slight) gripe is that I wish the stitching was tonal instead of white, but it is a beautiful dress regardless that I hope to enjoy for many years to come.
